The “Maria Tsakos” Foundation was a sponsor of the official celebration of the Greek Merchant Marine Day and European Maritime Day, that took place in the Athenaeum Intercontinental Hotel.The proceeds from the celebration will be disbursed towards the upgrading of maritime education.

The celebration of Greek Merchant Marine Day was established in 2008 by the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping (N.E.E.) and the Pan-Hellenic Seamen’s Federation (P.N.O.) in honour of the country’s great merchant marine, its sailors, and the entrepreneurs of the seas. Subsequent to the establishment of this institution, the European Union established the celebration of European Maritime Day.
