Establishment of “Maria’s Home-Education and Culture Campus”
On Saturday May 4th, His Eminence Metropolitan of Chios Psara and Oinousses Mr. Markos officially announced the establishment of “Maria’s House-House of Education and Culture”, a boarding facility in Kardamyla of Chios for Gymnasium and Lyceum students, donated by the family of Captain P. Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) International Seminar; Athens May 30-31, 2013

PUBLIC LECTURE: “The beginning of space exploration and Voyager’s journey to the frontiers of our Galaxy”
Professor S. Krimizis, President of the Scientific Council and a space exploration pioneer and expert gave a public lecture in Chios on April 12, 2013 on the occasion of the International Day of Human Space Flight. The Maria Tsakos Foundation and the Chios Astronomy Club jointly organized this event; the venue was the Amphitheater of the Sciences Management School of the Aegean University. A standing-room only audience was captivated by a fascinating presentation including the first ever sounds from space and archived videos of space exploration.

2nd SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL MEETING
The second meeting of the MTS Scientific Council was held at the Foundation’s Athens premises on April 2-3, 2013. The Founder, Captain P. Tsakos and the Foundation’s President Mr. E. Mitropoulos were also in attendance.
The Scientific Council deliberations were focused on the development of a 5-year strategic plan. A road map for activities, programs, research projects in sync with the Foundations’ Vision and Mission.
The next meeting of the Scientific Council is scheduled for the fall of 2013.
