Maria P. Tsakos (1967- 2010)

Maria P. Tsakos, daughter of Cpt. Panagiotis N.Tsakos and Dr. Irene Saroglou – Tsakos  grew up following her family’s long heritage in shipping. Her inquisitive spirit, her intuitive judgment, her invaluable expertise and her sharp intelligence justifiably led her to become one of the most respected members of the shipping industry.

Whilst actively supporting the Group’s expansion, Maria P. Tsakos also headed the “Maria Tsakos Foundation” in Uruguay actively serving as a vanguard of the promotion of the Hellenic Spirit across Latin America.

What distinguished Maria was her exceptional spirit of intelligence, her rare modesty, her unique authenticity and her life-long commitment to help the less fortunate members of the community. Maria Tsakos was one of the founders of the “Maria Tsakos” Foundation-International Center of Maritime Research and Tradition. She departed early, without having the fortune to see her vision flourish. The deeds of this Foundation are dedicated to her memory.
